Have you ever thought to yourself that out of all the knives I have in my collection, there's still one that I can't take my eye off of? If so don't worry it's okay to have a favorite, the question is what knife should fill that favorite spot?
If you are anything like me, you started your knife collection when you were young, with just a few pocket knives you may have gathered up at the local flea market, or made an even trade for with your buddies. Then you moved on to buying your knives from a local dealer or even a local pawn shop, eventually ending up here, buying online.
I must say my collection of knives is going well so far and I still have a favorite even after all these years. My favorite knife is indeed a Gerber knife, and yes it has history behind it. It is the Mark II Gerber knife, and when I first laid eyes on one was back when my dad was in Vietnam. Since that day I knew I needed to own one someday.
I had searched for that Gerber knife for awhile and ran into those who didn't want to get rid of them, and then those that would sell and tried to get as much out of me as possible. Finally I found one that I could pick up fairly cheap. Apparently the guy was a Veteran and had a vintage Mark II Gerber knife; of course I took the offer.
The Mark II Gerber knife has since be redone and re-mastered over the years with better materials. I recently purchased the new and improved Mark II Gerber knife, and I must say it is identical to its twin from Nam, but you can tell it's a lot sturdier and it just gives you the sense of gratitude to hold in your hand knowing the history behind this Gerber knife.
So as you can see my favorite knife is a Gerber knife, yours can be any knife you want, but it has to be special if it's going to sit in that favorite spot. If you have a favorite knife already, you know how much it means among all your other knives. But if you are still looking for that special knife, I highly recommend a Gerber knife.
